CMT is teaming up with one of America’s hottest bluegrass groups, Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas , to travel across the nation as the official sponsor of the “New Favorite Tour.” The tour runs from Sept. 28 through Dec. 9.
Fans may enter the CMT “Bluegrass on the Bay Sweeps,” where they’ll have the opportunity to win an all-expense-paid trip to see Alison Krauss & Union Station perform at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Oct. 27. The grand prize winner will receive round-trip airfare for two, hotel accommodations and tickets to the concert. Fans may enter the sweepstakes through Friday, Oct. 12 by logging on to http://www.country.com/comm/sweep/alison.krauss.
The CMT trucks will be at each “New Favorite Tour” stop, playing the best in country music videos and offering visitors a variety of games and prizes. The trucks also have two private viewing stations where fans can watch their favorite CMT programs with state of the art DVD audio and video technology.
CMT and Alison Krauss & Union Station have developed a rich history together. Krauss has an impressive CMT catalog of 18 videos including “Maybe,” “Forget About It,” “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You,” “When You Say Nothing at All,” and “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” (with Shenandoah). Her current video, “Lucky One,” is on the CMT Top 20 Countdown. The group appeared on CMT Most Wanted Live in August on the release date of its critically acclaimed album New Favorite. The album made a strong debut, selling nearly 40,000 units in its first week, placing it at No. 35 on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 sales chart, No. 3 on the country music sales chart and No. 1 on the internet sales chart. Krauss and the members of Union Station were recently nominated for multiple International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards.
Alison Krauss & Union Station also continue to receive accolades stemming from their extensive participation on the hit motion picture soundtrack O Brother, Where Art Thou? The success of the O Brother soundtrack has garnered multiple CMA Awards nominations including album of the year, single of the year for The Soggy Bottom Boys’ “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” featuring Union Station member Dan Tyminski, and two vocal event of the year nods for “Didn’t Leave Nobody but the Baby” featuring Krauss, Emmylou Harris, and Gillian Welch and “I’ll Fly Away” with Krauss and Welch.
