Freedom Concert Raises $5 Million, Breaks CMT Ratings Record

The Country Freedom Concert raised over $5 million for the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund. The all-star benefit concert was the highest-rated program in CMT history. Six million CMT viewers watched the live concert and its encore presentation on Sunday night (Oct. 21). The show scored a 2.13 household rating. Among all basic cable networks, CMT was No. 1 in prime time among viewers age 18-49 for the night. The concert also was broadcast on over 700 radio stations worldwide. On Monday (Oct. 22), country.com’s post-show coverage generated the Web site’s highest number of page views for a single day. The Country Freedom Concert included performances by George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr., Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, Lee Ann Womack and others. 10/25/01
