Garth Feels Old-Fashioned

In the new issue of Billboard magazine (Nov. 3), Garth Brooks says country music is “going someplace that just fits somebody better than it does me.” In an extensive interview, he tells writer Melinda Newman, “It’s weird how quick you can feel old-fashioned. But my statement is this: I am not being bitter. I’m taking my place as an older artist that has to know that the dance has a beginning and the dance has an end, and I’m very proud of the mark that I have been fortunate enough to make. I will now go to whatever God has planned for me next.” Brooks releases a new album, Scarecrow, on Nov. 13. 10/26/01
