Third Brooks TV Special to Be Staged on South Padre Island

The third and final concert of Garth Brooks: Coast to Coast Live, airing Nov. 28 on CBS, will be held outdoors on South Padre Island, Texas, The Associated Press reports. The concert, to be staged near the island’s convention center, reportedly will be free. Eight motorists were killed Sept. 15 when several barges struck the Queen Isabella Causeway, the highway that links the island to the rest of Texas. Community officials hope the concert will draw visitors back to the popular tourist destination. Garth Brooks: Coast to Coast Live is a series of three one-hour concert specials airing on CBS. The Nov. 14 concert takes place at The Forum in Los Angeles. The Nov. 21 show will originate from the USS Enterprise in Norfolk, Va., where Brooks will perform for the aircraft carrier’s crew. Backstage at the Country Music Association awards on Wednesday (Nov. 7), Brooks hinted that the Nov. 28 special would take place on the Southern coast of the U.S. All three specials will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT. 11/12/01
