Kid Rock Likes O Brother

Kid Rock says in USA Today that while making Cocky — his new CD out Tuesday (Nov. 20) — he listened to roots music. “I was really influenced by country and bluegrass,” he tells journalist Elysa Gardner. “I had been listening a lot to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack — that traditional music is amazing. I wanted to take the simplicity of American blues music and make something unique.” Rock also says of Hank Williams Jr., “He was one of my heroes, and he’s become like a friend and a father to me.” 11/20/01
