Freddy Fender, 64, will be honored with a parade, music and regional food at the eighth annual Freddy Fender Day, Dec. 8 in his hometown of San Benito, Texas. The event raises awareness and funds for student scholarships. Fender, whose hits include “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” and “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights,” recently finished a new album, Freddy Fender: La Musica Baldemar Huerta, scheduled for release Feb. 12.
