Drive Sets Records for Jackson, Arista Nashville

Alan Jackson’s 11th album, Drive, will debut at No. 1 this week on Billboard’s pop and country album charts, a first for the country singer and songwriter. SoundScan counts 423,069 copies sold for the week. That’s also the biggest one-week tally for Jackson’s label, Arista Nashville, and for the RCA Label Group that includes RCA, BNA and Arista Nashville. Jackson knocks Creed out of the top spot on the pop chart, also called The Billboard 200. The only other country artists to debut at No. 1 on the pop chart are Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. 01/23/02
