Jackson’s 11th album Drive repeats for the second week as the number-one-selling album on both the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and The Billboard 200 chart -– which measures sales across all music genres. The album sold almost a quarter million copies this week, according to SoundScan, after selling more than 420,000 copies last week.
Repeating as the No. 2 country album is the soundtrack from O Brother, Where Art Thou?. That also edges into the Top 10 -– at No. 10 — on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in its 60 weeks of chart action. O Brother has now sold almost 4 million copies.
Garth Brooks ’ Scarecrow remains in the No. 3 spot on the country albums chart. Scarecrow has sold over 3 million copies in 11 weeks.
It is followed by Toby Keith ’s Pull My Chain at No. 4 and Willie Nelson’s The Great Divide at No. 5. Rounding out the Top 10, in descending order, are Tim McGraw ’s Set This Circus Down, the Coyote Ugly soundtrack, Holy’s Blue Moon, Martina McBride ’s Greatest Hits and Brooks & Dunn ’s Steers & Stripes.
Collin Raye ’s Can’t Back Down debuts at No. 39 on the country album chart.
Holy’s “Good Morning Beautiful” repeats at No. 1 for the second week on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. That’s his first No. 1 single. The song’s writers took the title and the song’s inspiration from graffiti on a downtown Nashville bridge.
George Strait ’s “Run” is at No. 2, Brad Paisley ’s “Wrapped Around” is No. 3, Jackson’s “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” is No. 4 and Brooks & Dunn’s “The Long Goodbye” moves up to No. 5.
Rounding out the Top 10, in descending order, are “Bring on the Rain” by Jo Dee Messina with Tim McGraw, McGraw’s own “The Cowboy in Me,” Brooks’ “Wrapped Up in You,” Aaron Tippin ’s “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly” and McBride’s “Blessed.”
Kenny Chesney gets Billboard’s “airpower” nod for fastest rising single of the week. His song “Young” moves up to No. 18 from No. 23.
New singles on the chart come from Mark Chesnutt and newcomer Shannon Lawson. “She Was” is Chesnutt’s first single on Columbia Records and debuts at No. 51. Lawson is the newest discovery at MCA Nashville and his “Goodbye on a Bad Day” debuts at No. 57.
