‘Soldiers’ Single Coming From Montgomery Gentry

First single from the upcoming We Were Soldiers soundtrack will be Montgomery Gentry’s “Didn’t I,” a ballad written by “Run” co-writer Anthony Smith. Starring Mel Gibson, We Were Soldiers tells the story of the first ground battle in the Vietnam War. “Vietnam was heavy stuff,” muses Eddie Montgomery in a news release. “When you hear those guys talk, you know there’s no way you can imagine the hell they went through. … How can you not step up?” The duo films a video for the song Wednesday (Feb. 13) at the Los Angeles National Cemetery in Los Angeles. The album comes out Feb. 26, the movie debuts March 1 and the single goes to radio stations March 4. 02/12/02
