CMA Chief Calls Jennings an ‘Irreplaceable Character’

In keeping with his outlaw image, Waylon Jennings frequently described himself as at odds with the Country Music Association. The CMA, on the other hand, for years had been eager to patch things up with Jennings. “Waylon Jennings is a totally unique and irreplaceable character in the colorful history of country music,” said CMA chief Ed Benson, “and I’m so very glad his greatness will be forever acknowledged by his recent induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.” 02/14/02
