Brooks to Begin Reading Tour

Garth Brooks will read to school children in six U.S. cities this week, as the honorary chairman of the National Education Association’s Read Across America 2002 celebration. Brooks’ reading tour begins in New York on Wednesday (February 27) with an appearance on Good Morning America, during which he and the show’s hosts, Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson, will read to a class of elementary school children. Over the following two days, Brooks plans to read to students in Los Angeles, Nashville, Tucson, Tulsa, and Clarksdale, Miss. Special guests are expected at each event. Steve Wariner will join Brooks Wednesday reading to first graders at Coles Ferry Elementary School near Nashville. 02/26/02
