Massive Marketing Campaign Set to Mark Elvis’ Death

The 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death in August will be marked by a massive marketing campaign by his record label, RCA Records, and its parent company, BMG. Among the new Elvis products that will be released are ELVIS 30 #1 Hits, the first such collection of his 30 No. 1 songs, and a four-CD box set with 100 previously unreleased versions of Presley songs. BMG and Elvis Presley Enterprises also will commission three new Elvis books. Several Presley songs will appear in a new, animated Disney film, Lilo & Stitch, and a children’s book based on the movie will be published. Other Elvis products to be rolled out during the year will have tie-ins to clothing, sports, food and beverage, credit cards and retail stores. 03/26/02
