Come On Over Hits 19 Million

Shania Twain’s Come On Over has been certified 19 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The designation means that her record company has shipped 19 million copies of the album — more than any other album by a female recording artist and more than any other by a country artist. The new certification moves Twain into a tie with The Beatles’ white album (The Beatles) and AC/DC’s Back in Black for sixth place on the RIAA’s all-time bestseller list. Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard soundtrack is second among women, with 17 million, while Garth Brooks’ No Fences is the next country title, with 16 million. 03/28/02
