Country Music Conference Set For May 31-June 1

Scholars and fans will gather at Nashville’s Belmont University May 31-June 1 for the 19th annual International Country Music Conference. Among the highlights will be the presentation of such papers as “Country Music Goes to the Movies,” “North Georgia Bluegrass Pioneers,” “Researching Country Music: Almost Like a Song” and “Didya Ever Iron a Dress With a Lightbulb? The Life of Roni Stoneman.” There will also be a panel discussion on “The 75th Anniversary of the Bristol Sessions” (the first recordings by the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers and other country music pioneers). In addition, the conference organizers will announce the winners of the “Country Music Book of the Year,” “Life Achievement” and “Charlie Lamb Excellence in Country Music Journalism” awards.
