CDs from LeDoux, Steiner and Earle Lead New Releases

A work from country's reigning rodeo singer Chris LeDoux, the debut album from young hitmaker Tommy Shane Steiner and a grab bag of material from singer songwriter Steve Earle lead new country releases this week.

Marking his comeback after a liver transplant, LeDoux's After the Storm (Capitol Nashville) includes a Garth Brooks-LeDoux duet on "Some Things Never Change."

Steiner's "What If She's an Angel" has reached the Top 10 and marks him as country's only breakthrough new artist thus far this year. His debut work Then Came the Night (RCA Nashville) features Randy Travis dueting with Steiner on "I Don't Need Another Reason" and includes Vince Gill on background vocals.

Earle's Sidetracks (Artemis Records) gather several Earle compositions for recent movie releases: "Some Dreams" from The Rookie, "Me and the Eagle" from The Horse Whisperer, "Open Your Window" from Pay It Forward and an alternate take on "Ellis Unit One" from Dead Man Walking. The remainder of the album consists of material from different Earle recording sessions, including a cover of Nirvana's" "Breed," on which Earle is joined by Sheryl Crow, the Chambers Brothers' 1960s hit "Time Has Come Today" and the previously unreleased "Dominick Street."

Also this week, the BMG Heritage Country Legends series issues collections of songs by Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis. Bluegrass group John Reischman & The Jaybirds release a self-titled album on Copper Creek.
