Sons Collected for ‘Ultimate’ Set

Western harmony greats the Sons of the Pioneers are featured on Sons of the Pioneers: Ultimate Collection (Hip-O), a 21-track CD out May 21. The set encompasses the group’s recordings from 1935 to 1954 for Decca, RCA, Vocalion and Coral. It also includes the first recordings by Leonard Slye, a founding member of the group, known later as Roy Rogers. Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” “Cool Water” and “Riders in the Sky” are among the titles included on the new collection. 04/23/02
