Hillous Butrum Dead at 74

Musician and businessman Hillous Butrum, a former member of bands led by Hank Williams Sr., Hank Snow and Marty Robbins, died Saturday (April 27) in Nashville. He was 74. Butrum was a Grand Ole Opry staff musician before joining Williams’ Drifting Cowboys in 1949. He stayed with the band until July 1950 and went on to work four years each with Snow and Robbins. With Robbins he formed a music publishing company, BE-ARE Music. Later, his Hillous Butrum Enterprises marketed country music videos. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT) Wednesday (May 1) at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, Tenn. 04/29/02
