Lari White Gets a Makeover

Former RCA recording artist Lari White (“Now I Know”) celebrates the release of a new album, Green Eyed Soul, at Nashville hipster hangout Slow Bar on Saturday (May 11). She’s selling the CD at her Web site, lariwhite.com. Buyer beware — White has undergone a serious musical makeover. In the liner notes, she thanks soul star Al Green and feminist author Naomi Wolf. On record, the radical overhaul recalls Shelby Lynne’s transition from country to pop and rock. Billy Dean (comically billed as Varry White) and gospel favorite Bebe Winans sing harmonies. 05/09/02
