Charlie Chase’s Son Named as Burglary Suspect

The son of a well-known country music radio and television personality has been identified as a suspect in a violent home invasion in Nashville. Seventeen-year old David Bernard, the son of air personality Charlie Chase, remains in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being shot by a homeowner in the attempted burglary early Sunday. Bernard and 20-year-old Micah Ladd were identified by police as suspects in the invasion. Both were shot and the intruders subsequently sprayed a sports utility vehicle belonging to the homeowners with rifle fire. Ladd remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Police said Bernard will be charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery, among other charges. Chase released a statement asking for “prayers and support.” 5/21/02
