Tritt Will Be Finale for Flameworthy Awards

What we know is that Travis Tritt will close the CMT Flameworthy Video Music Awards airing June 12 from 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on CMT. What we don’t know is what Tritt will sing. His “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde” video, featuring a guest appearance by actor Billy Bob Thornton, is up for video of the year, concept video of the year and director of the year (Michael Merriman). Flameworthy producers are promising only that Tritt “will hit the stage with one of his high-energy hits.” He performed “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde” May 22 on the Academy of Country Music’s awards show. “Nailing that great video can be like walking a tight rope,” Tritt says of the video-making process. “If you do it right, you can leave a lasting mental image and add to the experience of the song. But, if you do it wrong, you can really blow it.” Already announced to perform are Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Toby Keith and Sara Evans. 06/04/02
