Enthusiastic Brad Paisley fans gathered Tuesday (June 11) for their annual fan club party. This year, the event took place at the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase at Opry Mills in Nashville, Tenn. A crowd of about 350 was on hand to see Paisley perform, visit with fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Members of the spirited throng were clearly excited about the occasion. They came from all over the country to see Paisley and to participate in Fan Fair 2002, which officially gets underway Thursday (June 13). They greeted Paisley and his band with loud cheers that continued throughout much of the party. Many fans showed their support by wearing an assortment of Paisley shirts and gear, some of which were creatively homemade.

After the crowd helped themselves to a buffet lunch, Paisley got right to the music. He treated his fans to a special performance, which included hits such as “Wrapped Around” and “We Danced.” He also performed his latest single, the humorous “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” and his cover of ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man,” featured in a new video pairing Paisley and the rock trio. Special guest Tommy Shane Steiner joined Paisley on stage. Steiner sang his hit, “What If She’s an Angel,” with Paisley adding back-up vocals. Fans sang and clapped along with the music.

Before he began the autograph-and-picture session, Paisley expressed his gratitude to his fans, many of whom were returning for their second or third fan club party in three years. Expressing his appreciation for their loyalty and support, Paisley said, “Thank you for being my friends first and my fans second.”
