Matriarch of Whites Dies

Pat White, wife of Buck White and mother of Cheryl White and Sharon White Skaggs, died Sunday (June 16) at Hendersonville (Tenn.) Hospital. She was 68. Mrs. White suffered a heart attack Saturday. Buck White and his daughters, The Whites, are Grand Ole Opry cast members and appear on the bestselling O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. They were touring and returned home to be with Mrs. White before she died. Buck White, Mrs. White and another couple performed together in the ‘60s as the Down Home Folks. The Whites moved to Nashville in 1971 to pursue a musical career. Mrs. White left the music business in 1973. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and 1-5 p.m. Wednesday (June 18-19) at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Hendersonville. A life celebration service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday (June 20) at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Memorials may be made to The Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, P.O.
