Billboard to Add Bluegrass Chart

Billboard magazine will add a bluegrass chart to track album sales, effective in its July 20 issue. “Top Bluegrass Albums will be inclusive of the broad range of styles that represent the genre, from its deeply revered traditions to its modern, progressive elements,” says Wade Jessen, who will manage the bluegrass chart, as well as the country and religious music charts. Best-selling bluegrass albums, such as the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, and those from Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss & Union Station, and Nickel Creek, will continue to appear on the Top Country Albums chart. 07/09/02
