Chesney, Keith Top 'Billboard' Charts Again

When you’re hot, you’re hot -– especially in a sweltering summer dominated by Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney. Keith’s Unleashed holds the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums for the second week, while Chesney celebrates a fourth week at No. 1 on the singles chart with “The Good Stuff.”

Chesney also keeps his No. 2 position on the albums chart with No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems, followed by the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack at No. 3. Alan Jackson’s Drive shifts into No. 4, with Martina McBride’s Greatest Hits at No. 5 and Darryl Worley’s I Miss My Friend at No. 6.

Keith resurfaces at No. 7 with Pull My Chain, and Chesney is immediately behind with Greatest Hits. Tim McGraw’s Greatest Hits and Brad Paisley’s Part II round out the Top 10.

The Greatest Gainer award goes to Blake Shelton, which leaps from No. 19 to No. 15. Tift Merritt’s acclaimed Bramble Rose earns a Pacesetter award at No. 58. Fans of Emmylou Harris, Ryan Adams and Lucinda Williams are encouraged to check her out.

Debuts include comedian Roy D. Mercer’s The Family Album at No. 35 and chart veteran Kathy Mattea’s Roses at No. 38.

On the singles chart, Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” faces a decrease in spins, but remains at No. 2. The Dixie Chicks’ “Long Time Gone” hops to No. 3, Gary Allan’s “The One” dips to No. 4, and Worley’s “I Miss My Friend” reaches No. 5. McGraw’s “Unbroken” falls to No. 6.

RCA Records is well-represented with Andy Griggs’ “Tonight I Wanna Be Your Man” at No. 7, Tracy Byrd’s “Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo” at No. 8, and Sara Evans’ “I Keep Looking” at No. 9. Joe Nichols and new imprint Universal South mark their first Top 10 appearances with “The Impossible.”

Just below the Top 10, Diamond Rio scoots six slots to No. 11 with “Beautiful Mess.” Airpower notations go to Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You” at No. 16 and Phil Vassar’s “American Child” at No. 17.

Debuts include newcomer Aaron Lines’ “You Can’t Hide Beautiful” at No. 58, Paisley’s “I Wish You’d Stay” at No. 59, and Keith’s “Who’s Your Daddy” at No. 60. And after a staggering 44 weeks on the charts, Steve Azar’s “I Don’t Have to Be Me (‘Til Monday)” finally drops out.
