Alan Jackson Heading To Concert for America

Alan Jackson will join Placido Domingo, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Enrique Iglesias and Gloria Estefan during next month’s Concert for America at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Jackson’s “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” proved to be among the strongest songs written in the aftermath of last year’s terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. The Sept. 9 concert will be broadcast Sept. 11 on NBC as part of the network’s coverage of the one-year anniversary of the attacks. First lady Laura Bush is scheduled to attend the event that will be hosted by news anchor Tom Brokaw. The music will also include performances by Josh Groban, Renee Fleming and the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by music director Leonard Slatkin. 08/21/02
