Jones and Nelson Show Union Pride

George Jones, Willie Nelson and Ray Price head an all-star cast scheduled to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nashville’s musicians union. The Oct. 7 concert at the Grand Ole Opry House is billed as “Music of Music City: Celebrating a Century of Musicians.” The show is presented by the Nashville Association of Musicians, the local chapter of the American Federation of Musicians. Other featured performers include Bobby Bare, Mandy Barnett, Vestal Goodman and the Happy Goodman Family, Dobie Gray, Don Helms, Ferlin Husky, the Jordanaires, Brenda Lee, Raul Malo, Charlie McCoy, Boots Randolph, Ray Stevens, Gene Watson and Kitty Wells. The concert will also feature a Grand Ole Opry segment featuring the show’s staff band with Opry members Bill Anderson, Jim Ed Brown, Jack Greene, Jimmy Dickens, Jan Howard, Jimmy C. Newman, Jeannie Seely, Jean Shepard, Connie Smith, Porter Wagoner and Billy Walker. The evening will also include special performances by the Nashville Symphony. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Opry Trust Fund and the Vic Willis Emergency Relief Fund. 09/11/02
