Parton Becomes Tennessee Ambassador

Dolly Parton has been named official ambassador for the Tennessee film and music industries. Tennessee Gov. Don Sundquist appointed Parton to the post in an effort to maximize the state’s image as a place to make films and create soundtracks. Aimed at decision makers in Los Angeles, the first in a series of front-page ads is scheduled to run in Tuesday’s (Sept. 24) edition of The Hollywood Reporter. Parton is scheduled to be in Los Angeles next month for a promotional event sponsored by the Tennessee Film, Entertainment & Music Commission. 09/23/02
