Elvis Tops U.S. Album Chart

Until this week, no Elvis Presley album had ever debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. album charts. But when Elvis 30 #1 Hits topped the Billboard 200, it also debuted at No. 1 in 16 other international markets, including the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Australia, Spain, Denmark, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. All 30 tracks on Elvis 30 #1 Hits were mixed and mastered from the original master tapes. Released Sept. 24, the compilation includes “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Return to Sender” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight.” Presley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998. 10/02/02
