Paisley Receives CMA Honor

Brad Paisley is the newest recipient of the Country Music Association's prestigious Connie B. Gay Award. Named after the organization's founding president, the award is given to someone not currently serving on the CMA board who has rendered outstanding service during the past year. Paisley was chosen because of his personal efforts in promoting CMA events, including Fan Fair and the CMA Awards.

The award was presented to Paisley during Tuesday's (Oct. 1) CMA-sponsored media luncheon in Los Angeles. Since the Connie B. Gay Award was established in 1963, recipients have included Roy Acuff, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, Martina McBride, Tex Ritter and Trisha Yearwood.

"I feel humbled to be in that company," Paisley said after accepting the honor. "In my opinion, being a part of the CMA and helping with anything they ask me to do is its own reward. They promote country music better than anyone. Just like anything, the CMA is only as good as what the artists and the industry are willing to put into it. Hopefully, I am doing my part, as I know many others are doing their part."

Paisley is currently headlining the CMT Most Wanted Live Tour.
