Chicks and Keith Go Multi-Platinum

The Dixie Chicks took little time in mining more metal with their new album, Home. Released Aug. 27, the trio’s third major-label album has been simultaneously certified gold, platinum and double-platinum by the RIAA. Additionally, Toby Keith scored the first double-platinum album of his career with his 2001 album Pull My Chain. (Gold designates shipments of 500,000 copies and platinum signifies shipments of 1 million copies.) Going gold are Michael Martin Murphey’s Cowboy Songs and comic Bill Engvall’s Dorkfish. In related news, James Taylor’s new album, October Road, has been certified gold. Taylor performs material from the album when he teams up with the Dixie Chicks for CMT Crossroads, debuting Oct. 18. 10/4/02
