Alan Jackson's Label Prohibits Use of Song

Alan Jackson's record label has prohibited an Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate from using "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" in a political ad. Independent candidate Gary Richardson used Jackson's hit as background music in a commercial that questioned the whereabouts of Republican opponent Steve Largent on Sept. 11, 2001. Neither Jackson nor Arista Records had provided permission for Richardson to use the song in the ads. 10/18/02
