George Jones Named as CMA Presenter

George Jones will serve as a presenter on the CMA Awards on Nov. 6. He is nominated in the vocal event category with Garth Brooks for “Beer Run.” Jones has won that category three times already: in 2001, for Brad Paisley’s “Too Country”; in 1998, for Patty Loveless’ “You Don’t Seem to Miss Me;” and in 1993, for his single “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” However, in 1999, Jones boycotted the show because producers would not allow him to sing “Choices,” nominated for song of the year, in its entirety. Alan Jackson ended his own performance with a snippet of “Choices” and earned a standing ovation. Other CMA presenters this year include Jessica Andrews, Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black, Tracy Byrd, Deana Carter, Terri Clark, Tammy Cochran, Blake Shelton, Trick Pony and Mark Wills. 10/29/02
