Crowell’s Cherry Bombs on Opry Live

A reunion of Rodney Crowell’s band, the Cherry Bombs, takes place Saturday (Nov. 9) at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. An ‘80s off-shoot of Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band, the group performed Monday (Nov. 4) at the ASCAP country awards banquet in Nashville, but Saturday’s appearance will be televised by CMT during Grand Ole Opry Live. In addition to Crowell, the Cherry Bombs include Vince Gill on guitar and Nashville record producer Tony Brown on keyboards. Opry Live will also feature Willie Nelson, newcomer Anthony Smith and new Country Music Hall of Fame member Porter Wagoner. Prior to the Opry, Gill and Nelson perform “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” on CMT’s Most Wanted Live. MWL airs at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Grand Ole Opry Live follows at 8 p.m. ET/PT. 11/8/02
