Major Retail Push Behind Twain’s CD

Shania Twain’s new album arrives in stores Tuesday (Nov. 19) with a major retail push to ensure an explosive debut on the Billboard charts. Up! — Twain’s first album in five years — includes 19 songs that were recorded in different versions for different target audiences. The U.S. edition is color coded — with a green CD containing the country version and a red CD featuring the pop version. Twain’s label, Mercury Records, placed a retail price of $19.98 for Up! to put it on a level with single CDs by superstar acts. However, several national retail chains are initially selling Up! for less than $10. 11/18/02
