Rascal Flatts Strike Precious Metal

Rascal Flatts' new album Melt has been certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of 1 million copies, the trio's label -- Lyric Street Records -- announced Friday (Dec. 6). Earlier this week the RIAA issued its official list of November gold and platinum certifications. A triple platinum award went to Kenny Chesney's Greatest Hits, with double platinum certifications extended to Faith Hill's Cry and Toby Keith's Unleashed. Notably, George Jones scored his first multi-platinum album when his Super Hits surpassed the 2-million sales mark. The late Charlie Rich's classic Behind Closed Doors hits another multi-platinum level by exceeding sales of 4 million copies. Among the titles going gold in November (for shipments of 500,000 copies) are Keith Urban's Golden Road, LeAnn Rimes' Twisted Angel and the all-star compilation Totally Country, Vol. 2. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits, 1971-1975 -- already the best selling album ever -- is now certified for shipments of 28 million copies. 12/6/02
