During a rehearsal for his New Year’s Eve show in Nashville, Kenny Chesney explained to CMT News the title of his 2003 tour, “Senoritas and Margaritas.” The idea came last year when he and his band rode golf carts with pitchers of margaritas to surprise tailgaters before a show. “It very much defines my fan base, and it very much identifies with the vibe and the attitude of the fans out there sitting in the lawn,” Chesney said. “That’s where I sat so many times and saw Jimmy Buffett and Van Halen and so many people. And I was the guy in the parking lot drinking a margarita before going in and sitting in the lawn seats.” 12/30/02
