Jennings’ Grave Now Marked

The grave of Waylon Jennings, who passed away on Feb. 12, 2002, was finally marked on Saturday (Feb. 15) in Mesa, Ariz. The marker, which includes a picture of Jennings, reads, “A vagabond dreamer, a rhymer and a singer of songs, a revolutionary in country music, beloved by the world” on the right side. “I am my beloved’s. My beloved is mine. A loving son, husband, father and grandfather” is inscribed on the left. Rob McCauley, cemetery operations coordinator, credits the long wait to Jennings’ widow Jessi Colter, who took a year to decide what to say about her husband in his epitaph, according to the Arizona Republic. 02/19/03
