RIAA Releases New Gold and Platinum Certifications

Faith Hill, Toby Keith and the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack top the list of multi-platinum album certifications just released by the RIAA. The organization assigns platinum status for every 1 million albums shipped and gold status for every 500,000 albums shipped. Hill earned additional platinum for Breathe (8 million) and her 1993 debut Take Me As I Am (3 million). Other April certifications include Keith’s Greatest Hits, Volume 1 (2 million) and the O Brother soundtrack (7 million). Gold albums were certified for Diamond Rio’s Completely, George Strait’s For the Last Time: Live From the Astrodome and Johnny Cash’s American IV: The Man Comes Around. In addition to earning his 13th gold record, Cash’s video single for “Hurt” was certified double-platinum certification for shipments of 100,000 copies. 05/07/03
