Randy Travis Scores First No. 1 Since 1994

Randy Travis notched his 16th No. 1 hit in Billboard this week with "Three Wooden Crosses," which blows the theory about religious songs not appealing to country audiences. Travis first reached No. 1 in 1986 with "On the Other Hand" and most recently topped the chart with "Whisper My Name" in 1994.

Right behind Travis is Tim McGraw's "She's My Kind of Rain," which spends its third week at No. 2. Last week's chart-topper, Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten," falls to No. 3. Moving up a notch: Diamond Rio's "I Believe," to No. 4; Keith Urban's "Raining on Sunday," to No. 5; Chris Cagle's "What a Beautiful Day," to No. 6; and Rascal Flatts' "Love You Out Loud," to No. 7. Toby Keith and Willie Nelson saddle up to No. 8 with "Beer For My Horses," Lonestar rests at No. 9 with "My Front Porch Looking In" and Kenny Chesney's "Big Star" falls to No. 10.

Buddy Jewell, the winner of Nashville Star, debuts at No. 44 with "Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey's Song)," yet another lyric about God. Other debuts: Deana Carter's "I'm Just a Girl" at No. 56, Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" at No. 57 and Jamie O'Neal's "Every Little Thing" at No. 59. It's been more than two years since O'Neal hit No. 1 with "There Is No Arizona."

Worley's Have You Forgotten? continues to dominate Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. Keith's Unleashed returns to No. 2, sending the Dixie Chicks' Home to No. 3. The latest albums from Shania Twain and McGraw hold steady at No. 4 and No. 5, as Martina McBride, Johnny Cash, Chesney, Urban and Rascal Flatts round out the Top 10.

Travis' album Rise and Shine is knocking on the door, at No. 11, just ahead of Elvis Presley's ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits. Jessica Andrews' Now falls out of the Top 10 in its third week of release, to No. 13. Further down, Vince Gill's Next Big Thing jumps to No. 23 to earn the Pacesetter award, and Charlie Robison's Live debuts at No. 51.
