SHeDAISY Goes Platinum

Osborn Sisters Celebrate New Career Milestone

SHeDAISY's Kristyn Osborn fought back tears and poked fun at herself and sisters Kassidy and Kelsi at the group's platinum album celebration Thursday (April 6).

"We admit we're emotionally challenged 'cause we take after our mom," she explained. "We tried to get my dad to do this speech for us, but he bailed."

In fact, the trio's mom and dad, Robyn and Dave Osborn, flew in from their native Utah to watch their daughters celebrate the success of The Whole SHeBANG, SHeDAISY's debut album on Lyric Street Records. The collection sold a million copies, produced two Top 10 singles and became the highest-charting debut record by a country duo or group in 1999.

"Everyone's heard over and over again, but we waited a long time for a day like today," Kassidy Osborn said.

The Osborn sisters have been in Nashville for years, supporting themselves with retail jobs while shopping their demos around town. Kristyn, who co-wrote every cut on the record, made it a point to thank all her co-writers at the platinum celebration, presenting each one with his or her own plaque to commemorate the occasion. Then, the sisters wrangled producer Dann Huff to accompany them on guitar as they sang "God Only Knows" as a thank-you to the people who supported them in their climb.

Before the celebration, which was held at Minnie Pearl's restored mansion in Nashville, SHeDAISY sat down with country.com for a candid interview about their success, their recent award nominations and their work on a new Christmas record. You can view the entire interview, as well as the platinum party ceremony and the live performance of "God Only Knows" right here.
