Showing he still has appeal where it counts — with record and ticket buyers — Garth Brooks won three big prizes at last night’s (Jan. 17) American Music Awards in Los Angeles. The honors are voted on by fans, this year approximately 20,000 of them.
In addition to copping the favorite male country artist and favorite country album awards, Brooks also was proclaimed the top artist of the 1990s. His winning album was Double Live.
Shania Twain won the favorite female country artist and favorite female pop/rock artist trophies. Veterans Brooks & Dunn took the favorite country band/duo/group award. And the Montgomery Gentry duo was voted favorite new country artist.
