Crews Preparing for Earnhardt Tribute Concert

For the first time in the track’s 44-year history, work is underway in Florida to transform the Daytona International Speedway into a concert venue for Saturday’s (June 28) Dale Earnhardt Tribute Concert. Crews have been taking down lighting and pit road fencing for the concert featuring several country acts who were close friends of the late NASCAR legend. The 3 p.m. show will include Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Delbert McClinton, the Goo Goo Dolls, Sheryl Crow and Hootie & the Blowfish. Even the stage is impressive — a platform measuring 220 feet wide, 120 feet deep and 80 feet tall. The concert benefits the Dale Earnhardt Foundation, a non-profit organization underwriting a variety of charities. Tickets to the tribute concert are available at Ticketmaster outlets. 06/24/03
