The Veterans of Foreign Wars will present Travis Tritt with this year’s VFW Hall of Fame Award. The award recognizes entertainers and sports figures who have served veterans through their work. Tritt received national attention for his portrayal of a disabled veteran in a series of music videos for “Anymore,” “Tell Me I Was Dreaming” and “If I Lost You.” Each featured Travis as Mac Singleton, a wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran struggling with disability, the loss of his wife and the pressures of raising a young daughter alone. In addition, the singer’s long form video, Travis Tritt, A Celebration, was made during a performance for disabled veterans in Utah. Tritt was the spokesperson for the Disabled American Veterans during 1994-1996 and has visited many VA hospitals. Tritt will accept the award during the Veterans’ 102nd National Convention, taking place in Milwaukee Aug. 18-24.
