Rogers Plays High School

Kenny Rogers donated his time for a benefit concert at a Missouri high school last weekend and managed to raise a hefty sum for his namesake charity. The show at Sikeston High School April 22 raked in $100,000 for the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center, which provides developmental and therapeutic services to special needs children throughout the state. Rogers will receive the Career Achievement Award at the 36th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, to be broadcast live May 9 on CBS. He is also up for Vocal Event of the Year for “Buy Me a Rose” with Alison Krauss and Billy Dean.
