McEntire’s Annie Get Your Gun May Move to Small Screen

Reba McEntire may star in a TV version of her Broadway hit, Annie Get Your Gun. The project is in the “development deal” stage with CBS, a spokeswoman for McEntire’s record label told Wednesday (April 18). McEntire also has signed on for her own TV sitcom, tentatively titled Sally, for the WB cable network. The singer has several acting credits under her belt including CBS’ Forever Love and the upcoming big screen release One Night at McCool’s. As Annie Oakley on Broadway, McEntire has received rave reviews. The Outer Critics Circle, a group of reporters who write about Broadway for out-of-town publications, has given McEntire a special award for revitalizing the long-running musical. McEntire will help announce nominations for this year’s Tony Awards May 7 in New York. Her Web site says McEntire is being considered to host the show, which takes place June 3.
