Ingram Unveils New Material

At Nashville’s Exit/In Friday night (April 13), Jack Ingram unveiled new songs for an upcoming album. The Texas-based singer/songwriter will begin work later this month on the follow-up to 1999’s Hey You. Frank Liddell (Lee Ann Womack, Chris Knight) will produce. Ingram’s set, before a packed house, included “Run to Me,” a comforting ballad, and “What Makes You Say,” a desperate, mid-tempo plea. Friend and co-writer Todd Snider joined Ingram onstage for a rousing rendition of “Barbie Doll.” Swag drummer Ken Coomer (formerly of Wilco) quietly slipped behind the drums to play on the raucous tune. Ingram’s new album is due Sept. 18.
