Hubert K. "H.K." Covel, Jr., Toby Keith's father, was killed Saturday afternoon (March 24) in an auto accident on Interstate 35 near Norman, Okla. Mr. Covel, 67, died when his pickup truck crossed the center median and collided with a charter bus, reports The Norman Transcript. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the bus and one of its 15 passengers were hospitalized and released the same day with minor injuries. Mr. Covel was driving home alone after attending a hometown barbecue. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (March 27) at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Norman. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Primrose Funeral Home.
