Horse Whisperer Tune Up For Oscar

Two Nashville, Tennessee-based songwriters could be stepping up to the famed Oscars podium. The country ballad “A Soft Place To Fall,” recorded by newcomer Allison Moorer and penned by Moorer and singer/sowngwriter Gwil Owen, became an Academy Award nominee recently for the Best Original Song trophy. In addition to Moorer’s recording being released as her first radio single for MCA Records, the song actually debuted in the Robert Redford movie The Horse Whisperer. Moorer appears in the movie singing the song at a barn dance while Redford’s character and co-star Kristen Scott enjoy a slow dance.
