Country’s First Steps Were Huge

The annual Country Steps In for First Steps concert, held recently at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, raised over $70,000 for the local schools in First Steps, Inc. Performers joining spearhead artist Joe Diffie were Lisa Brokop, Ty Herndon, Collin Raye, Ricochet, Lee Ann Womack and surprise guests Michael Peterson and Brent Mason. A silent auction held during the concert helped to boost the total proceeds by $10,000. Among the hottest items were an Epiphone guitar, donated by Gibson and signed by all the artists on the show, going for $1,400, and a guitar donated by Vince Gill went for $900. During an after-show party, held and hosted by Planet Hollywood, Diffie thanked each artist on the show for their time and effort and presented the show sponsors and major contributors with framed drawings created by the children at First Steps.
