Late music legend Carl Perkins would have been proud! The Blue Suede Dinner, Auction & Concert to benefit the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse was a complete success. Auctioneer LeRoy Van Dyke talked $130,000 out of the tuxedo-suited crowd that filled Jackson, Tennessee's Civic Center recently. The concert starred such greats as Billy Ray Cyrus, Baillie & The Boys, Sylvia, T. Graham Brown, Razzy Bailey and Skip Ewing. A definite highlight was when 84-year-old Nell Googe and her 54-year-old daughter Jansen Googe Smith joined Cyrus on stage to sing "Achy Breaky Heart." Cyrus had promised the two ladies earlier that if they'd attend the concert, he'd invite them on stage to sing the song -- a number they sing themselves at family gatherings.
